How to get around Lisbon?*
There are different types of public transport available in Lisbon:
– Train (Operator: CP)
– Bus (Operator: Carris)
– Tram (Operator: Carris)
– Subway/Metro (Operator: Metropolitano de Lisboa)
*Useful App: Citymapper is a public transit app and mapping service that displays transport options, usually with live timing, between any two locations in a supported city (Includes Lisbon!). It integrates data for all modes of urban transport, including walking, cycling and driving, as well as public transport (provides price information and alternative Uber and Taxi estimates), for all your transit cost needs. It is free of charge to users and available on iPhone and Android, and by an Internet website.
There are different ticket options, depending on your travel needs and plans.
1) Single Travel Ticket
The single travel ticket is a transport ticket valid for a single trip on each operator’s networks.

*** Valid for unlimited journeys on Carris and Metro networks, during 60 minutes following the first validation. Cannot be used for consecutive journeys on the Metro.
2) Zapping
The zapping ticket is a pre-paid transport ticket valid for several trips within a certain monetary amount, allowing for travel on different operator’s networks. It can be topped up with different amounts starting at 3€ and then in multiples of 5€ up to 40€.
It Implies the purchase of a pay-as-you-go travel card – “Navegante Ocasional” – which has a cost of 0.50 €.
Depending on the network you use to travel, the amount discounted with each single trip varies:

Each zapping journey refers to one operator only. Every time you change transport operators, an additional fare is deducted from your card, according to the conditions of the operator.
Where to buy and/or top-up your pre-paid transport ticket?
The different ticket options can be bought at official CP, Carris and Metro ticket offices and automatic ticket machines at train, subway stations. Plus, at selected shops, kiosks and concessionaires such as Pagaqui, Payshops, CTT and MOB stores.

2) CP (Train) 10-Journey Ticket – Lisbon
This 10-Journey Ticket is also loaded onto the ‘Navegante Ocasional‘ Card [0.50€].
Price 1 Zone = 13,05 € [= price per ticket = 1.31€]
Price 2 Zone = 13,05 € [= price per ticket = 1.58€]

3) Lisbon Card
For those also interested in sightseeing, Lisbon also offers the Lisbon Card, a 3-in-1 transport card, museum pass and overall discount card.
4)Alternative: E-mobility (bikes, e-bikes, scooters, and e-scooters)
There are also a variety of paid-for rental e-mobility options across the city of Lisbon, including e-scooters and e-bikes from companies such as Lime, ridemovi, Bolt and Bird. As may occur in your city, to use these options you must install the respective app and link a credit or debit card to the app from which the amount for each ride you make will be discounted.
