Paper Symposia Guidelines
A paper symposium is a cohesive cluster of research presentations and theoretical perspectives focused on a specific topic that emphasizes conceptual issues and an integration of findings with representation from multiple institutions.
Each paper symposium needs to include a Chair and at least 3 paper presentations, with a maximum of 4 paper presentations. A Discussant is optional and allowed only with 3 paper presentations. There are 3 possible combinations:
(a) 1 chair + 3 or 4 papers;
(b) 2 chairs + 3 or 4 papers or
(c) Chair + Discussant + 3 papers.
A total time of 90 minutes will be allotted to each symposium session. The chair briefly presents the theme of the symposium, organizes, and directs the symposium session, introduces the presenters, and ensures that time limits are strictly observed. Presenters speak for 15 minutes each. The discussant (optional if only 3 papers) provides an overview and comment on the papers included in the paper symposium. The chair should be prepared to lead, stimulate, and coordinate, at least 15-minutes, open discussion with the audience.
IMPORTANT:
All Speakers are requested to deliver their presentations to technical secretariat (Data Desk) via USB stick, at least two hours prior to their presentation. For presentations scheduled for 8:30am, presentations should be delivered the day before. Due to differences in computer configurations, laptops will not be accommodated.
However, some of the rooms will not be connected to the data desk.
For the rooms – Glicínia Quartin, Vianna da Motta, Eugénio de Andrade – speakers will not be required to deliver the presentations to the data desk, Speakers can plug the USB directly to the computer in the room. Note that laptops will still not be accommodated – you must use the computer of the room.
Formats: Computers are equipped with PDF reader, Microsoft Office, and access to the internet.
Individual Poster Guidelines
